End of July pictures in no particular order

this must be the "In Place To Be"

Just down the road

get your attention?

See the fingerling in the photo before and after this?

I do have a thing for Dragonflies, just fascinating to me

Though, because of the way they hold their wings, these are known as Damselflies

The purple Wild Onion are pretty. I have been told the bulbs are good eating but once they send up the flower stalk they become poisonous. They are flowering all up and down the Crooked River/ Paulina Valleys.

Now for the 'oddities'

First: MURDER!

I was following a golden dragonfly to get a picture of it when it landed. Instead, I was witness to an efficient killing that took less than two seconds. The reason the snapshots are fuzzy is that the dragonfly was jerking all over when caught in the web. The spider pounced and then the dragonfly immediately went still and was quickly tossed out of the web, still attached.

A closeup of the perp!

In the picture above you can see two of that kind of predator.
The body was still there the next day.

Gone the day after that ...

Found in a very dry ditch that was - obviously - very wet previously.

For those who like to search for Waldo, find the cricket in the next photo.

Here's a hint
