When comes the letting

of all the years we yearned?

Maybe the truth is somewhere in-between
What I recall and what I heard you say.
Blame it on youth, say we were young and lean.
Just never tell me I was in the way.
Would you deny I had any role at all,
write in the line that comes before a fall....
Season of forgetting,
there's a point of no return.
When comes the letting

of all the years we yearned?

Nothing I sing, nothing I write in stone
Changes the thing that went on long before.
It's not my way and not for me alone.
I wouldn't try, at least, not any more.
Call it a loss then throw it on the fire,
One easy toss, from this contest I retire....
